LLMs are famously bad at Chess. They have no world model and they are not trained to be good at Chess. This is not the amazing point you think that it is.
I don't think anyone is worried about user expectations. It's management expectations. The output expectation goes up, while the quality of that output goes down, but is still your responsibility.
I'm not surprised professional software developers are not enjoying AI development.

They did. On any long running query with large context, tell Claude “give me a status report every 4 minutes to keep the cache warm”. It’s entirely happy to oblige and usually says “good idea, that will keep costs down”
