"Economic dividend" really means "Demographic dividend". It's when your fertility rate decreases but your total population isn't decreasing yet, so you get more people to work more as they spend less time as parents. This of course is a self perpetuating cycle and ends in demographic collapse. China's population is now decreasing. The West's population is still growing. China is in the most literal sense dying. It's what you get for having a one child policy for 50 years. But hey, for a beautiful moment in time they really created a lot of shareholder value.

Our constant in/out wasn't great for the EU as a whole and it's now very hard to argue that pissing off your largest trading partner (by nearly a factor of 4 over the next one which is the US) was a catastrophic mistake.

I'd say yiu should not confuse politicians taking revenge on their citizens for having voted wrong with Brexit leaving the UK worse off than if it remained.
The EU is one of the primary tools all these authoritarians use to push their agenda. In which functional democracy do parliaments have to vote AGAINST a bill? Which sane democracy establishes a literal ministry of truth? Which non-dystopian government introduces highly destructive laws (forcing every small online store to hire a legal representative in every single memberstate they want to ship to) and then telling desparate small business owners not to worry, because surely their countries wont enforce those laws?
And all of those happened AFTER the British people saw the writing on the wall and forced their rulers to downgrade their rank in the new aristocracy.
It can be stronger if you consider more than economic terms.

This is an actual researched phenomenon with evidence behind it, known as rapid-onset gender dysphoria (ROGD). It's controversial, though only because it's at odds with mainstream trans ideological beliefs. But it does explain why paediatric gender clinics have had such a huge influx of new patients in recent years and why they have significantly skewed female.
About the two links you originally posted: I read them just before commenting here. It's a common (especially recently) view about immigrants in many countries. In Europe and USA it's a common politically conservative view, in PRC, Korea, Japan, Russia it's more mainstream.
Not something I fully support. I disagree about disliking let alone deporting immigrants just because they're different or because of the skin color. However, I can see an issue when immigration significantly worsens tragedy of the commons. My view as I mentioned in some other thread before is that it's not unreasonable to expect an immigrant to culturally integrate (note that this doesn't mean abandoning religion or traditions) and speak local language. I guess DHH may be more conservative than me, but comparing it to German Nazi seems a stretch. Also, nearly half of Europeans I come across in my experience have similar views.
Based on your summaries, I stand by my opinion. The average conservative European is against trans weeks (no opinion), may agree that some cultures can never integrate (I disagree), may claim that some people are culturally incompatible because their parents are from some countries (this may be the worst, and I disagree), may claim that London is no longer full of Brits (contrary to your summary of it census puts a number on Brits of any skin color-59%-but I disagree that it is in itself an issue), would classify the grooming gang scandal as a Muslim-related issue (no opinion, as far as I recall Mohammed's recorded sayings discount harm to non-believers but no idea if that played any significant role), dislikes gypsies' effect on public places (I heard similar stuff from other Europeans, personally I don't have anything against gypsies and disagree with stressing ethnicity, but haven't lived where their presence is noticeable and IMO it's not unreasonable to expect integration from immigrants), etc. These don't seem like extreme views even if I don't support them.
It's clear I don't agree with him but if there was a smoking gun that made his opinions too extreme considering mainstream I'm sure they would surface in your summaries.

I just switched back to VS Code from Cursor a week ago. Things seem great and VS Code has caught up. Last time I tried switching back was in November and VS Code was not ready then.
Webp lossy is better (compresses more with higher quality image results) than jpeg at everything except smooth gradients at high quality settings according to the research I remember doing. Webp lossy can't seem to get rid of banding until you go ultra high quality settings. Jpeg can show blue skies without banding at much more reasonable quality settings. So webp is better at anything where smaller files is preferred, like all website usage. Jpeg is better for long term storage of very high quality lossy compressed images.
I chose webp for long term storage of scanned documents in our SaaS product, as size reduction was more important than no banding.
Also webp has excellent support in modern software and operating systems. So that's not a drawback any more. JpegXL will be the best of all worlds choice in a few years when software support is good.
File explorer support, thumbnails, local image viewers and editors, import into other media software like slideshows, video editors, 3d modeling software, etc etc.
The encoder currently isn't using a lot of format features like curves or layers (which would partially also require deeper integration in for example Photoshop to pass such information to the encoder).
I suspect there are a few 10s of thousands of websites that still only accept Jpeg (as a user upload). Some accept PNG. Few accept HEIF, almost none accept JPEG-XL
This is probably going to be the longest tail of them all.
I only accept webp, jpg, and png atm in my SaaS product. I should probably add support for HEIF right now at least. All iPhones are using that, so it's hard to get around it.
