Exactly. The 1-to-1 tutor-style education was also mainly responsible for OxBridge producing some of the greatest minds to have come out of Europe. (I am not sure but I think to some extent this is still the case at Cambridge?)
Every language has its own quirks. In Chinese, you don't have this a/an difficulty, but the grammatical tenses are so fluid that a lot of contextual cues are needed to make sense whether "I went" [zoule 走了] means I really went in the past, or I am going now (ignoring the semantic diff as well, since zou also means to pass away).
Actually, it does, it's just not so fixed about them.
For instance: "I have gone", "I had gone" are said the same way, but there is a slight difference when you say "I have been going" and there is really no way to say "I had been going" unless contextual tokens are added onto.
Talking about frontier mathematics? Even the common for-mere-mortals version of mathematics is totally inaccessible to most people. Even to those who want to really learn it.
Take a good look at the textbooks that teach mathematics and tell me I am wrong.
Whether intentional or not, it's there. I have yet to see a textbook that really taught learners as they deserve to be taught. Some are good in some aspects, but a perfect textbook does not exist.
"Here are some theorems and some proofs and here are some ideas left as exercise to the student". smh.
I am well aware of all the sites and YT, what you probably thought I live in a cave? I taught mathematics at Tsinghua for over a decade, so I know what I'm talking about.
3B1Br is great but only for a 'hobbyist'. There's no systematic progression to teach from A to Z. Also, you can't learn mathematics just by watching videos.
