Oh my! That solved it! Thank you so much!

How is it solved? You can't disable the clipboard sync, only disable handoff altogether.

i think that was sarcastic or should have been sarcastic :D

100% not sarcastic. I disabled all continuity options and the annoying delay to bring up the context menu is gone. My phone is my only apple product. I don't need it.

Where is that setting ? Can only find continuity related to AirPlay

Edit:

Disabled everything on "Continuity and AirPlay" as well. Guessing it might be the "Handoff" setting. Not sure that the menu pops up any faster though

Yeah, it was "handoff". It was always taking a long second or two before it would open. Now it is instant

So after disabling this I realised since I only have an iPhone (and no Mac or other Apple devices) I should disable anything and everything in the settings that syncs stuff between devices. There was also one about the Focus options (like Do Not Disturb) and some other ones. I figure this can only simplify everything and speed up the phone if it never has to check for any (non existent) device to sync settings against. Still have all my local phone settings backing up to iCloud

Why didn’t you ask an llm if it was bothering you? It would have solved this easily as well

This is my first iphone since the original. I thought that is just how it was.

I’m trying to phrase this to not be “that guy” but have you used Code on large code bases? Vscode on my m2 Mac routinely crashed when doing file search. That is why I switched to zed.

I do miss the configurablity though

What counts as large? There can be some perf issues if you don’t exclude node_modules and build outputs from search, but I’ve never seen it crash.

It was a mono repo with 30+ projects Most were react apps. I’m going to guess at least 5000 files in the repo.

And yes, node_modules was excluded.

I’m sorry you had a bad experience.

The monorepo I work in has 2-5x as large (depending on how you count) and I don’t see crashes or major performance issues. Even when bloated with plugins (testing, GitHub PRs, formatters, copilot, vim emulation, codelens turned on, etc). And I have an older presumably slower Mac.

I wonder what the difference is.

I once read that Hershey has put a calories cap of 250 on a serving of their candy. That jives with what I see on the store shelves. I wonder if Mars did the same thing and perhaps the reduction in size was due (at least in part?) to that.

I needed a transom bracket for my boat. I didn't want to buy one (they are ~50USD) so I figured I could print one using nylon. Don't worry, this is only holding a rudder.

Anyway, I couldn't find one that would work so I just asked Sol to design one using free cad. It used 12% of my weekly budget ($20/m plan) and spit out something nearly perfect. I imported it into OnShape to add some chamfers and make a few tweaks.

Hermes using gpt-5.5

Prompt: What does the message in this image say? Look closely

Response: DAY DREAM. The outline says “PAY BILLS,” but the hidden darker text says “DAY DREAM.”

Am I the only one who just uses Privacy.com and the pauses the card when I want to cancel a subscription? They have no way of charging me....

> "You cannot invalidate individual JWT tokens". Which every time I've implemented, the general guideline is to check for invalidated nonces somewhere. Which resolves that random blog posts second point too.

100% agree. This is common sense to me and I'm always surprised to re-learn people don't do this

Not checking the signature on every single JWT is the same as storing a password in plain text.

worse, it's storing identities in an editable format that any attacker can use to impersonate any user, no?

Even worse than both of those scenarios. If you don't check the signature anyone can simply write whatever they want in the payload string. The signature is always generated by combining the payload with a private key. Then the receiver uses the public key to verify the signature. If you don't do that the payload can be modified to be anything. Storage not required by the attacker.

It's like prompting for a password but accepting any password as valid.

I currently have a desktop with a 4060 ti (16gb of vram). Most models I have tested that fit within that are not good enough for anything other then type completion (in regards to coding tasks)

I have been considering getting the 58gb Mac Mini but that is a decent amount of money to spend without confirmation on a) how fast is it and b) will it work for well-defined tasks.

When? I was a kid...7ish.

Why? Thats harder to answer. Because my parents told me about Jesus, and the Holy Spirit opened my heart to receive it. I didn't weigh the evidence. My eyes were opened and I "saw". The "why" is ultimately that I was pursued. My heart was changed and I was given faith. I wasn't smart enough and definitely didn't pursue him on my own. That's the best thing about it.

That's the only honest answer I can give.

Interesting. I lost 100% of taste and smell months. I never found anything I could taste. Spicy has zero effect. I could cut onions with no tears. Literally nothing with any food

The only “sensation” I had eas texture which I found very gross without flavor.

It was like that for about 2 months and it slowly came back over another 5 maybe 6. Salty was the first thing I noticed.

5 years later and I still don’t smell coffee, gas or a few other things. It’s weird walking down the coffee isle at the store and not smelling it at sll

> The only “sensation” I had eas texture which I found very gross without flavor.

It's powerfully off-putting, isn't it? I had no idea tasteless texture would be so upsetting.

I hope this treatment becomes something I can partake of personally. I find that I'm using a lot more salt than I used to trying to make up for lack of taste. I switched to a potassium salt substitute to try to reduce my sodium intake.

For me everything moist smelled like seaweed.

I could smell fats (e.g. a grilled steak) but anything vaporous just smelled like the sea. Even diesel cars smelled like low tide. Ugh!
