$1000 = Have to have a clear project/vision in mind of how the board would be used and how other methods (FPGA/emulation) couldn't suffice.

This really isn't news, it's been known for years. A GPU team is based in Austin (knowing Apple, they likely have multiple).

They've also had a load of job adverts out for hardware graphics positions in London over the last few months. I think I read their new team is supposed to based there (but I can't find that source now).

As someone who voted "against" Uber/Lyft, I can promise you their PACs misleading and blatantly false propaganda regarding the city ordinance directly caused them to lose my vote. That and people love getting 4 fliers per day in their mailbox.

Cool, but your vote has little to do with the political reality that pushed the initiative to politicians putting it up to vote.

Eh, Wentzlaff (professor behind this) co-founded Tilera. He can definitely make something others could use. I view him doing OpenPiton as an attempt to give back to researchers now that he has become a prof.
